The High Note Lives Up To It’s Name

The High Note was way better than I thought it would be. If you liked A Star is Born, you’ll love The High Note. During this pandemic its good to find something to take your mind off of whats going on in the world. And give you two hours where you can just feel good and be reminded that if you work hard and sacrifice that dreams due come true.

Set in LA it follows the life of Maggie (Dakota Johnson) Who plays the over worked personal assistant to Gracie Davis (Trace Ellis Ross) a superstar whose talent, and ego, have reached unbelievable heights. But like a lot of us  Maggie is in LA chasing a dream. between working and running errands for her boss she pursuing her dream of being a music producer. and has a chance to produce an aspiring R&B artist named David Cliff (Kelvin Harrison Jr.).
To me Kelvin is the sleeper here with an amazing performance and a spectacular voice. Both he and Tracy Ellie Ross really surprised me with their vocal abilities. I don’t wanna give too much away but this really is a great movie and a must see this weekend to break up the quarantine monotony. S/O to Ice Cube who plays Jack Grace’s Life long friend and Manger as well as diplo who plays a Grammy award winning producer. Fun fact he is that in real life but way cooler than the role he plays in the movie. HA! anyway great movie go see it!

The movie was originally supposed to hit theaters nation wide but due to the pandemic they choose to go to VOD (video on Demand) route which means you can stream the movie with ya family, friends or anyone who likes great movies on Friday may 29th
