Ice Cube is making waves with his latest single, “It’s My Ego,” the lead track from his upcoming album Man Down, set for release later this month. Fans are eagerly tuning in, evident by the impressive performance of the song on the charts right from its debut.
This week, “It’s My Ego” lands in the top 10 on two major Billboard charts, marking a significant achievement for the rap icon. The single not only showcases Ice Cube’s staying power but also sets a new personal record for his solo career on both charts.
On the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, “It’s My Ego” opens at No. 7, giving Ice Cube his third top 10 hit on this list. Meanwhile, on the more comprehensive R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, the single debuts at No. 8, doubling his number of top 10 appearances on this ranking as well.
While Ice Cube has previously hit higher positions on both of these charts, those successes were as part of the supergroup Mount Westmore, alongside hip-hop heavyweights Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Too $hort. Their track “Big Subwoofer” peaked at No. 5 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart and No. 7 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales list. “It’s My Ego,” however, represents the highest solo debut of his career on both tallies.
Ice Cube’s single is the top debut on both charts this week. Only one other track appears on both lists: Glorilla’s “Let Her Cook,” which debuts at No. 13 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. On the rap-only chart, KSI and Trippie Redd’s “Thick of It” debuts at No. 10, rounding out the week’s new entries alongside Ice Cube’s latest hit.
