Lebron isn’t the only one getting his commercial game up. Chicago native Dwyane Wade hooked up with some of the Music Industries Brightest stars and fellow Chicagoans to support a good cause. Common, Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson and producer No I.D. have united for the new soulful track ‘We Can Do It Now,’ to support the 3rd installment of ‘Gatorade Replay.’
The No I.D.-produced song features an electric guitar, tambourine and clap beat behind Hudson’s powerful vocals, before Lupe and Common step in. Fitting with the show’s premise, the ‘We Can Do It Now,’ is set around the basis of team work and getting second chances. “Replay is about getting an opportunity to do something over, as specific as like the chance to redeem yourself,” Lupe explains of the show and how it inspired that track. “The sporting element of course lends to the mood of the track.”
The third season of ‘Gatorade Replay,’ which is documented through the Emmy-nominated ‘Replay’ series on the FSN channel, brings together two rival basketball teams — Bloom Township High School and Brother Rice High School — from Chicago’s South Side. The teams reunite to settle a decade long score at a state playoff game.
