Last weekend the St. George Greek Orthodox Church held it’s annual Greek Festival celebration in Hollywood, Florida. The weather was beautiful and the event proved to be the perfect opportunity to take a trip for a day and visit the beautiful country of Greece. Friends and families gathered to enjoy authentic music, dancing, and delicious homemade food and pastries. Formal Greek clothing and jewelry were displayed throughout the festival, as well as different traditional emblems, books, and pictures available for purchase. Raffles were held to benefit the Church prizing different Greek wines and music cd’s. Tours of the Church were offered at different times throughout the day, and there were tons of activities for the children to enjoy like bouncy houses and face paint. The Church’s award winning dance groups put on entertaining performances of authentic Greek dances while wearing traditional costumes. The best part of the festival was the endless variety of food available. Everywhere you looked a tasty treat was being freshly prepared right in front of your eyes! A wine tasting was offered by Loukas of @HeirloomVines , where a pleasantly informative history lesson was given while you tasted a collection of wine’s grown and imported from all different regions of Greece. The festival was a wonderful celebration of the history and culture Greece.
