2 Chainz excitedly shared the news during a recent project with Rock The Bells, emphasizing the significance of this moment. “Me and Wayne’s album drops next month. This is a full-circle moment,” he stated. He reflected on the origins of their partnership, acknowledging that back in 2016, Lil Wayne was one of the hottest artists globally. He could have demanded a hefty sum for his contributions, but he didn’t. This strong bond laid the foundation for their musical collaboration.
ColleGrove, initially released as a 13-track LP, marked 2 Chainz’s third studio album and featured Lil Wayne on eight of its tracks. It quickly ascended the charts, claiming the No. 2 spot on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and the No. 4 spot on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release.
2 Chainz had previously teased fans about the upcoming ColleGrove 2, stating, “ColleGrove 2 will be coming out before the year’s over with.” He also shared that they had already shot two music videos, completed the photo shoot, and were in the final stages of mastering the records. All tracks were mixed, and he couldn’t wait to share the results of their hard work with fans.
Lil Wayne, on the other hand, recently dropped new music ahead of the highly anticipated release of The Carter VI. He made Tha Fix Before Tha VI available for pre-save on Instagram, a 10-track mixtape that featured collaborations with Jon Batiste, Euro, Cool & Dre, Fousheé, and TheNightAftr. This release generated significant excitement among his fan base.
Regarding The Carter VI, Lil Wayne first announced plans for the album in August 2022. If it’s released this year, it will mark five years since the commercial success of The Carter V, making it a highly anticipated project for both artists’ dedicated followers.
