Howlin Ray’s! What can I say the line was crazy. I was thinking to myself “Self are we really gonna wait an hour and a half for this chicken?” Yup and that’s exactly what we did. And we weren’t the only ones as Howlin Ray’s serves 500-600 Hot Chicken loving people daily in Chinatown! An 1hr and 30mins later I made it to the register where I was enthusiastically greeted by Jamie and Ricky who 1st thanked me for my patience and waiting in line. Then one hit me with a pound and the other with a hi5 and asked was I ready to order. After all that time in line you think I would’ve known what I wanted. But being it was my first time there and I’m a picky eater I had questions LOL.
Ricky was understanding and made sure he answered each and everyone of them. He also offered up some of his own suggestions. From the moment I walked in the door I knew that Howlin Ray’s was more than about the chicken it was about an experience.
From the cadence I heard being called on the line to Johnny rapping and Michael dancing with a grand mother waiting on her daughter to pay for the food. Everyone spoke to everyone making you feel welcomed and once the food came several people came to make sure we were ok and check on how the food was and if we needed anything.
As if all the above wasn’t enough the food was GREAT!!! Ordered 1 of everything except the sides LOL when it came to the side I had the Shake Fries which I loved and the collard greens. Wasn’t used to the greens being cooked with tomato’s so that kinda threw me a little. But the chicken was fresh and hot! Half my order was the Country Chicken which has no heat. My other half was Mild and that mild still had a little kick! Which was cool because at Howlin Ray’s The Peach tea and Lemonade refills are free! All in All it was wonderful experience.
