The Purple Agency, Blackout for Human Rights and Magnolia Pictures teamed up with NeueHouse in Hollywood, CA to hold a screening of Raoul Peck’s James Baldwin documentary “I Am Not Your Negro” on Friday, Jan. 13. The screening was followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with the film’s producer, Hebert Peck, journalist Jarrett Hill, civil rights attorney and NBC News commentator Lisa Bloom, and filmmaker and CalState LA associate professor of Pan African studies Aminah Bakeer Abdul-Jabbaar. Powerhouse entertainment attorney Nina Shaw, who works with filmmakers including “I Am Not Your Negro” director Raoul Peck and “13th” director Ava Duvernay, served as the panel’s moderator. Special guests “Queen Sugar” and “Living Single” actress Erika Alexander and “How to Get Away with Murder” actor Matt McGorry were among the evening’s attendees.
