It was a big day for powerhouse country duo, Maddie & Tae. Before the nearly sold out show at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN, they were surprised with a Gold record for their sophomore album, The Way It Feels.
The night started with Abbey Cone, who played an acoustic-driven set before being joined for a moment by Maddie & Tae’s band. The newcomer was quick-witted, making sure a co-writer in the audience, who didn’t think she’d play a specific song, knew she was owed “a hundred dollars.”
After Cone, the energy went through the roof with one of Canada’s fastest rising stars, SACHA. Donning pink fringe and a rockstar mentality, SACHA danced, strummed, and sang her way through a set that seemed like a Nashville coming-out party. SACHA made sure to get the crowd involved with a medley of Taylor Swift hits to compliment her own commanding catalog.
Soon, Maddie & Tae were emerging from the side stage darkness to screams from adoring fans. The duo, who are headlining their first tour since 2015, had the crowd in the palm of their hand through a 17-song set, prompting an encore of three more songs, including Die From A Broken Heart. The set included cameos from SACHA and Abbey Cone on the song “The Other Side” and a four-song acoustic portion of the night with their band bringing out a cajon, dobro, and acoustic guitar. Despite the pause from high-power drums and guitars, fans were enthralled, a testament to the artistry on display. The tour continues through the next week, concluding in Grand Rapids, MI, on October 15th.
