“It Aint Where You From Its Where You At”
Fake’n It Till You Make It (Part Two)
We said what we had to say about the Stuntin in the ATL…We realized we left out an element that really gets under our skin. I will kick it off. Here it goes….I get it, I can tell by the Yankees hat, the Timbs (no matter the temperature), the extra sway in the step, and by the fact that you know today’s mathematics that you are from NY. The fact that you constantly have to use the word “Brooklyn” or “Marcy” in every sentence is also very telling. I have no problem with someone reppin’ where they come from, it’s not that at all. My issue is with the dudes that move from NY and act as if the world stopped spinnin’ when they crossed over the Verrazano. I went to a Hawks Vs. Knicks game last night and sat next to a group of annoying young men. They weren’t the type of “crazy fan” annoying, but the ” look at me, I am from NY” annoying. Every other word was, cuz, son and dun, which was not hard to hear as they spoke in the “notice me” tone. Do they still use those words? I thought to myself. They refer to NY as UP TOP? When will that get played out? I guess to me when you put so much effort into “Frontin” it makes it look like you are from Buffalo. I am not hating, don’t get me wrong, I love my fellow NY’ers. Trust me, I have just as much pride as the next person. I will root for the Knicks, even if they did not win another game. I will cheer on the Yankees, even if they can’t keep the lead during the World Series. I will argue with anyone who claims that Rap was not created on the streets of the Bronx. While Tupac was great, Biggie was better. But my pride is also what makes me shake my head in shame while I sit next to four NY idiots and listen to them try to prove to the world they are from NY. My theory is just live it, and it will just seep through your pores. Sensae, what say you?

We’re all aware Atlanta is a place filled with a variety of transplants. So many that it’s oftentimes difficult to actually find a native Atlantan! On many occasions, I, too, have witnessed the over exuberance of those from New York trying to make sure you knew they descended from the “mean streets of NY”. It’s almost as if letting you know where they’re from not only establishes credibility, but should make you fearful for your life and well being. HA! LOL! How many times were these same individuals PUNKED in the “mean streets of NY”? Robbed? Jumped? What about just beaten down one-on-one old school style…”52 hand blocks”? Probably more times than they would care to admit. There’s nothing wrong with having pride in being from a place rich in so many aspects including cultural diversity, food, fashion, and entertainment. What’s troublesome is when people allow this “richness” to transform into a cocky demeanor in which your comments about and towards others are condescending. Atlanta was already in existence before the influx of migrants. The city did not extend an invitation for those outside to move to Atlanta. Therefore, if you moved to Atlanta, the least you could do is respect it! If not, why not move back to NY where all the things you proudly speak of still exist? You’re welcome to stay and embrace the city and its people as it is in true form; but, if you opt to leave us, we’ll survive.

You wouldn’t of had that problem at the game if you weren’t in the cheap seats…. Upgrade yourself and the rest will follow.

TRU, You speak just that…the TRUTH. Note…the faker’s name is “From Up Top”/”NY” and NOT “NYC”. Dude is probably from Rochester and NOT either of the 5 boroughs. LMAO!
