The Not So Glamourous Life

“No matter what anyone glamorizes about stripping–it’s not a healthy lifestyle. Too often we get consumed with what someone or something can do for us..instead of working hard to earn what we want. The fast money, flashy cars, and ballers are all over and done with, what do we have to show for ourselves? 3 Louie bags and butt implants? What happened to a purpose-driven life? *This is not a stab in the dark at Brooke or any other dancer. So please do without the hate replies, to each it’s own : )” -Anonymous

I absolutely agree. There is nothing glamorous about strip at all. Its one of
the few jobs in the world that actually enforces a lifestyle. Its nothing that
I would celebrate or hold a job fair for-but it is what I do and I am not hiding
it nor am I ashamed of it.The more glossier image people see on the streets is the cars and bags and
shoes, etc, and..in my opinion, the expensive things are a coping mechanism. I know some other dancers may disagree with me, but I believe that the nice things are just a way to deal with
the pressure of the lifestyle. Sometimes treating yourself or someone treating
you can compensate for feeling the pressure from a social standard that someone in this industry will never meet no matter who you are.
Its a way of
showing purpose for this lifestyle choice. when you choose to take your clothes off for a living, it wont be for minimum wage. there has to be some method to the madness.

I don’t think any woman in the adult entertainment industry can be classified as
a good girl. And we all make choices that are some days good and other days
questionable. and just because I make more good choices than bad doesn’t mean
that I can be the token dancer to speak for an entire club and/or industry, and it doesn’t mean
that my life is any better than the dancer who makes bad choices. it just means different things drive us. yes there are dancers who do extra things, and there are other dancers who dont have to. and i am blessed enough to not have to do certain things for extra money, but i also do not judge anyone, in strip or not, who do with their body what they want.

Just know that money is the prime motivator for anyone who dances. what a woman does or does not do with her money is her business, but strip is and always be fast money. None of us ask
for the rep, the criticism or the negative publicity. Unfortunately peoples own
insecurities are pushed on us and then we are expected to what? Stop dancing? if anything the insane accusations and generalization that some people say about dancers only brings more attention to our industry. blog sites everyday are calling “AMBER ROSE” whores, and bringing up her colorful past, and as you can see, the person she is dating could care less. spend more time understanding, and less time judging.

I’m not asking for anyone to embrace strip. I agree that its an unhealthy
lifestyle that can diminish some purity in your mental state, making you more
of a hustler and less and less of a lover. But in small doses it can make you
stronger and can be used as a spring board for other things besides “modeling”..as some dancers try to fall into. as long as there is a need for music, women and liquor, there will be strip. spending your time being anti-strip club is a waste. it will always be here, and understand this is a choice. none of us have to do this, we choose to. so take your best shot-what i eat should not make you shit.

i appreciate that comment, because i do want it to be clear that this industry can be unhealthy and it is not glamorous. it can be ugly, hard, definitely real..and half the time-lackluster.

strip, in the name of money.

p.s. so i wouldn’t be “the bad guy” if i didnt say something to ruffle feathers..to address all the comments about prostitution in the strip club. honestly-i dont live that life, believe it or not, thats your choice. but before you judge that young lady for getting her money on the night stand, think about why YOU are sleeping with that athlete, or industry guy, or whatever random guy with a contract. the only difference between a dancer who chooses to have sex for money and the girl who isnt a stripper who sleeps with that same guy, is one girl is getting it today, and the other is trying to get it eventually. -cough-

no judgement, tho.
