Movie Review – Gotti

Last night was the Miami premiere of the new film Gotti. John Travolta and his Wife, Kelly Preston, showed up for the film that has garnered mixed reviews since the first premiere at Cannes last month. Both were casted for the film by the immediate Gotti family themselves.Travolta and his wife did an outstanding job playing the roles of John Gotti and Victoria Gotti. Kelly was able to enjoy one of Victoria’s home dishes, exchange emails and become close friends! The film that not only stars, but is also executive produced by John Travolta, chronicles John Gotti’s rise to the top of the New York underworld. A passion project for Travolta the film took six years to come to fruition. Perhaps the most interesting part about the filming process was that John A Gotti Jr spent countless hours on set, from the first take to the last shot! The film paints the head of the Gambino crime family as a devoted father and charming man whose life takes an uproarious turn as he faces tragedies mainly caused by unwarranted government prosecution and the betrayal of his closes friends!

Gotti was a man of his word, “never take a step back, always foreword” in which he said with such pride to his son John Jr. Most importantly, he was a family man, he did what was needed to do in order to provide not only for his community, but his wife and kids. Not once did he walk out of his front door and mix his work problems with his happy home. All in all, the film is based on the book written by his son, John A. Gotti, Shadow Of My Father, which turned out to be nothing less than what his Father would have ever asked for.
