On Friday, January 17th, the NRG Arena was PACKED to the brim with nothing but Houston legends for a once in a lifetime concert! I’m Ready Productions, nationally renowned non-profit organization, hosted a “One Time For The City” Concert featuring Houston rappers who brought Houston to the hip-hop scene including Scarface, Slim Thug, Lil Flip, Mike Jones, Devin The Dude, LilKeke, Lil Troy, Z-Ro and many more. Under the visionary leadership of the award-winning director, Je’Caryous Johnson, the “One Time For The City” Concert was nothing less than a smashing hit for Houstonians to enjoy!
Slim Thug also brought out rap legend Chamillionaire as a surprise guest. “I’m back making music and on the scene,” said Chamillionaire.
This one-of-a-kind concert was not only an evening of iconic music, but also a community effort for the future of Houston as proceeds from the evening went towards funding scholarships for local students. It was important not only for Je’Caryous but for the Houston hip-hop legends to garner as much funds as possible to help these local Houston students and raise awareness of the importance of community empowerment and education.
