Future is living up to his name and There ain’t no way around it.
Long before Drake hopped on Tony Montana and Made it a trending topic. The hommie been trending down south. Last month in Newnan, GA, the Atlanta rapper performed “Ain’t No Way Around Itâ€, a stand out song from the recently-released True Story mixtape. And the whole club was reciting the song word for word. 1 of my personal favorites is Stand ft @1YoungScooter that the hommie Macafee Dale turned me onto as we was standin over them dropping them racks on em HA!!!
Future can release a mixtape on June 9th, like he did with True Story, and about two weeks later a large crowd of people know every word to one of the random songs from that project. And I say random because “Ain’t No Way Around It†was never pushed as a single like “Tony Montana†or “Blast Offâ€, both which appear on True Story. Despite all of this, fans in Newnan still know every lyric to “Ain’t No Way Around Itâ€. That’s power! Not just Newnan but when I travel and I see people listing to ipod’s ill ask what are they listening to 3 out of the 5 random people i asked on my last trip relied this guy named Future
Future puts a lot of emphasis the melody in his rhymes, too. Notice how Future’s rhyme structure from verse one and verse two parallel one another?
On verse one, Future talks about a dilemma he has with a female:
A young hot thang, f-cked my bro and gave him brain / And she expect for me to love her, I can never be a lame / I’m attracted to her sexually, but she ain’t my main dame / We can be the best of friends, shawty, but you off the chain / See I ain’t gonna hold it against ya, I’ma keep it pimpin with ya / Don’t you come at me with issues, ain’t tryna get all in your mixture / I ain’t tryna come and get ya, you can meet me somewhere on Peachtree / At the W on the fourteenth…
On the second verse, Future talks about the mind-state of someone trying to survive in the streets:
Strapped with that flame, and he ready to bust a brain / You can’t tell the homie nothing, he done felt too much pain / He don’t care nothing about no fame, he addicted to the gain / Some n-ggas rob, some n-ggas slang, do whatever to maintain / Travel all the way to Waco, get them numbers for the low-low / Bigger risk the bigger the check, we watch for po-po…
But Future’s current single is Tony Montana and when asked about the song he had this to say
“I had to paint the picture of the whole movie: If you never seen Tony Montana, go look at the movie ‘Scarface.’ The beat was sounding crazy when I heard the beat. It sounded like New York when I heard it. It sounded very grimy, gutter, but at the same time it was a vicious track — it had that pound. I had to approach it that way when I wrote the song, so I thought about scenes from the movie, all the highlight scenes from Tony Montana from when he first came to America and they wouldn’t even let him over — his anger — trying to get that vibe and get that energy.”
