Walmart Homosexuality & Kanye

A tail of two covers, The lesser of two evils, however you wanna call it is what this post is about. The other day Kanye West revealed the cover for his forthcoming album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” Mr West is no stranger to controversy and that’s exactly what this cover has stirred up. Prompting an immediate response from Walmart which stated that they wont carry the cd with that cover

The artwork was illustrated by artist George Condo (who also did the “Power” artwork) and depicts a Werewolf looking Kanye holding a green bottle being straddled by what he says is a phoenix.

when asked what he thought about Walmart not carrying the album with the cover as is, The Roc’s Prodigal Son replied:

“In the 70s album covers had actual nudity…It’s so funny that people forget that…Everything has been so commercialized now,” West went on to say. “I know that cover just blew yall minds…I wish yall could see how hard I’m smiling right now!!!”

“In all honesty…I really don’t be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers, I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity.”

The last line in the 1st quote if yall can see me now, leads me to believe Mr. West knew exactly what he was doing. But what Imma tell Ye “Im on the train“…6:20 mark LOL Anyway back to the topic. It’s his art and more importantly his right. Yall do remember this thing called The First Amendment that starts off The US Constitution? Enough about Kanye lets talk about Walmart.

It’s funny how Walmart chooses to use selective reasoning. The other cover is a book called “Chased by an Elephant.”  The book which is written for kids deals with hetero and homosexuality. My question is this Walmart? The same way you allow parents to talk to their kids about “Chased by an Elephant,” you should allow the parents to discuss “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,”or is it that your just not into Interracial dating or the depiction of that?

What do you think about Kanye’s album cover?
