The U.S. Women’s National Team kicked off 2026 in emphatic fashion, rolling past Paraguay 6–0 on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park — the most-played venue in program history.
A milestone night featured a dream debut for forward Reilyn Turner, whose first international goal just before halftime sparked a second-half scoring explosion. The U.S. poured in five goals over a blistering 12-minute stretch, overwhelming Paraguay and cruising to another shutout.
The match marked the return of Trinity Rodman, who wore the captain’s armband for the first time in her career. At just 23, Rodman was the most experienced player in a remarkably young Starting XI that averaged only 9.6 caps — the least experienced lineup the USWNT has fielded in 25 years.
Rodman and Turner, both Southern California natives and longtime youth club teammates, set the tone early. Turner broke through in first-half stoppage time, calmly sliding a left-footed finish inside the near post to become the 25th player in USWNT history to score in her international debut.
The floodgates opened after halftime. Ally Sentnor struck twice to record her second career brace, while pressure from Croix Bethune forced a Paraguayan own goal. Rodman capped a memorable week with a goal of her own — her first since 2025 — punctuating her debut as captain. Emma Sears rounded out the scoring with a composed finish late in the second half.
The U.S. dominated statistically, holding 70% possession, firing 19 shots, and allowing Paraguay zero shots on goal. Goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn was rarely tested as the Americans secured their fourth consecutive clean sheet dating back to 2025.
Before kickoff, U.S. Soccer honored Los Angeles native and former USWNT star Christen Press, celebrating her decorated international career following her retirement announcement last fall.
The USWNT now heads north to Santa Barbara to face Chile on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in its final tune-up before the SheBelieves Cup.
