The Atlanta Dream have made a major move by acquiring All-Star forward Angel Reese from the Chicago Sky. In exchange, Atlanta sent its first-round draft picks for 2027 and 2028 and secured the option to swap second-round picks with Chicago in 2028.
Reese arrives in Atlanta as one of the league’s most impactful young stars. After leading LSU to a national championship in 2023 and earning Most Outstanding Player honors, she quickly transitioned her success to the WNBA. In just two seasons, she has averaged 14.0 points and 12.8 rebounds per game while recording 49 double-doubles.
Her rookie campaign in 2024 was historic, as she set league records for rebounds per game and consecutive double-doubles, earning All-Rookie Team honors. She continued her dominance in 2025 by leading the league in rebounding and collecting multiple weekly awards.
The Dream are coming off a breakthrough 2025 season, finishing with a franchise-best 30 wins under head coach Karl Smesko. The team dramatically improved its offensive efficiency and saw standout performances across the roster, positioning itself as a rising contender.
Reese is expected to play a key role in Atlanta’s system, bringing energy, toughness, and elite production on both ends of the court. With her addition, the Dream are aiming to build on their success and make a strong push in the 2026 season, which begins May 17 at home against the Las Vegas Aces.
