Daniel Salloi marked his 29th birthday with a second-half equalizer to help Sporting Kansas City earn a 1-1 draw against New York City FC in sweltering conditions at Children’s Mercy Park. NYCFC struck first through Andres Perea in the 22nd minute, but Salloi leveled the match in the 74th with a composed finish off a rebound. Despite both teams creating chances late, neither could find a winner. The result marked Sporting’s sixth comeback in 11 matches, as they now look ahead to a tough road test against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
