The Grammy Award-winning songwriter, producer, and music executive has signed the platinum-selling R&B group to his creative content company, Illustrate New Ideas, reuniting with the quartet nearly two decades after helping craft the sound that launched their career.
Cox was instrumental in shaping Day26’s early success, writing and producing fan favorites from the group’s 2008 self-titled debut, including “Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Are We in This Together,” “Don’t Fight the Feeling,” and “Exclusive (No Excuses).” He continued that partnership on the group’s sophomore album, Forever in a Day, contributing to standout tracks such as “So Good,” “Stadium Music,” “Babymaker,” and “Need That” featuring Jermaine Dupri.
“Day26 and I have a history that goes back to the beginning of their career, so this partnership is a full-circle moment,” Cox said in a statement. “I’ve always believed in their talent, their chemistry, and what they represent for R&B groups. Now we have an opportunity to build on that foundation while creating a new chapter that reflects who they are today.”
The group echoed that sentiment, calling the reunion a natural next step.
“Bryan has been part of the Day26 story since our first album, and the music we created together remains an important part of our legacy,” the group said. “There’s a level of trust, respect, and creative understanding that already exists between us. We’re excited to join Illustrate New Ideas and create music that honors our sound while showcasing our growth as artists and as men.”
As part of the partnership, Day26 is preparing to release a new album through Jive Records, with details surrounding the lead single and rollout expected to be announced in the coming months.
The signing continues a busy year for Cox and Illustrate New Ideas. The company also recently partnered with Houston R&B singer-songwriter Jack Freeman on his third studio album, NINA, whose single “MVP” reached the Top 30 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
The announcement also follows Cox extending his more than 27-year relationship with SESAC. A six-time SESAC Songwriter of the Year, Cox received the organization’s prestigious Icon Award in 2022 for his lasting impact on the music industry.
Never one to slow down, Cox is currently in the studio working on new music with an all-star roster that includes Mariah Carey, Usher, Kelly Rowland, Jagged Edge, Keyshia Cole, Benny The Butcher, and now, Day26—marking the beginning of what both sides hope will be another successful chapter together.
