The Black Rodeo USA went down on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at WestWorld of Scottsdale, and it was truly one for the books. This year marked the 13th annual rodeo with the theme “Celebrating Heritage, History & Hope!” The stands were packed, the energy was electric, and the pride in the air was undeniable.
From start to finish, the action never slowed—bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, ranch bronc riding, relay races, plus kid-favorites like mutton bustin’ and the calf scramble. Every event had the crowd on their feet, cheering on the competitors and celebrating the grit, skill, and heart it takes to ride.
What makes this rodeo stand out, though, is more than the competition. The Arizona Black Rodeo is a true celebration of Black cowboys and cowgirls—honoring heritage, highlighting culture, and giving well-deserved recognition to a history that often goes overlooked in the Western tradition. It’s about community, representation, and keeping that legacy alive.
The weekend brought more than just the rodeo itself, too. Families enjoyed the Kidz Rodeo, folks got to connect over the Cowboy Meet & Greet Steak Dinner, and the night wrapped up with an after-rodeo dance and party at Talking Stick Resort. The “Cactus and Culture” group seating added another layer of fun—creating a stylish and lively space for people to enjoy the show together.
Best of all, the rodeo supports the Black Rodeo USA Foundation, which invests back into the community by funding youth programs and educational opportunities. It’s more than an event—it’s a movement to preserve and pass down the rich tradition of Black rodeo to the next generation.
