DJ Cassidy Closes Mohegan Sun’s 30th Birthday Weekend With Pass The Mic Live Featuring Hip-Hop Legends

On Sunday, October 11, DJ Cassidy brought his signature Pass The Mic Live! experience to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, delivering a fitting finale to the entertainment destination’s 30th birthday weekend.

And if Saturday night was the birthday party, Sunday was the ultimate hip-hop celebration.

Known for bringing together some of the biggest names in music, Cassidy assembled an all-star lineup featuring Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Ja Rule, Fat Joe and Jadakiss, transforming the arena into a celebration of hip-hop’s golden eras and the timeless records that helped define them.

From the moment the music started, the evening was built around one simple idea: great music never gets old.

Ja Rule brought the nostalgic energy of his early-2000s hits, reminding fans of an era when his unmistakable voice and infectious hooks dominated radio and club playlists.

Nelly added his signature Midwest flavor, representing the St. Louis sound that helped reshape mainstream hip-hop and produced some of the genre’s most recognizable anthems.

New York was well represented, with Fat Joe and Jadakiss bringing the unmistakable energy of East Coast hip-hop. Their presence added another layer of authenticity to a lineup celebrating artists whose music continues to connect with audiences across generations.

And then there was Busta Rhymes, one of hip-hop’s most electrifying performers. Known for his commanding stage presence, rapid-fire delivery and larger-than-life personality, Busta brought another level of intensity to the anniversary celebration.

Five legendary artists. Decades of hits. One unforgettable night.

At the center of it all was DJ Cassidy, whose Pass The Mic concept has evolved into a celebration of musical history, connecting legendary performers and audiences through the records that shaped generations.

Rather than simply presenting a traditional concert lineup, Cassidy’s format creates a shared musical experience where each artist contributes to a larger celebration of hip-hop and R&B culture.

The show was also a fitting conclusion to a weekend that celebrated Mohegan Sun’s remarkable 30-year history.

Since opening in 1996, Mohegan Sun has become a major destination for concerts, celebrity events, nightlife and entertainment in the Northeast. Its anniversary weekend reflected that legacy, combining Saturday’s exclusive birthday festivities with Sunday’s arena-sized celebration of hip-hop.

For Cassidy, whose Pass The Mic brand has become synonymous with bringing music legends together, the evening represented another opportunity to celebrate the artists and records that continue to influence generations.

And for Mohegan Sun, it was an unforgettable way to close out three decades of entertainment while looking ahead to the next chapter.

From Saturday’s star-studded birthday bash to Sunday’s hip-hop finale, Mohegan Sun’s 30th anniversary weekend delivered two nights of music, memories and major star power.
