Treyvon Eugene, a senior graphic design major at Florida A&M University (FAMU), recently made waves at the 2025 American Black Film Festival (ABFF) as a Getty Images photography mentee—an opportunity made possible through FAMU’s new content licensing partnership with Getty Images. Selected after a series of mentorship sessions, Eugene worked alongside acclaimed Getty entertainment photographer Arturo Holmes, gaining hands-on experience and applying professional techniques that helped his work land in People Magazine.
FAMU Interim President Dr. Timothy L. Beard praised the partnership for offering students real-world exposure and career-building moments. Holmes, impressed by Eugene’s creativity, drive, and resilience, said mentoring him felt like mentoring his younger self. Eugene, who began his journey with a borrowed camera and a dream, credited the mentorship for helping him grow beyond the classroom and proudly represent his HBCU on a national stage. The ABFF partnership offered him not just exposure, but validation that he’s on the right path — and just getting started.
