FC Dallas showed grit and resilience Saturday night, battling to a 0-0 draw against the MLS-leading Philadelphia Union despite playing the final 51 minutes with just 10 men. The hard-fought interconference clash took place at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
The Union (10-3-4, 34 points) extended their unbeaten streak to nine matches, posting a 6-0-3 record during that run. Philadelphia also improved its road form, moving to 5-2-1 away from home. The club’s last loss came nearly two months ago, a 1-0 setback at New York City FC on April 12. Since then, the Union have been dominant, going unbeaten throughout May with a 4-0-3 record.
Despite dominating possession and piling on the pressure with a 23-7 shot advantage, Philadelphia couldn’t break through the Dallas defense. Surprisingly, Dallas edged the Union in shots on target, 2-1.
FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes turned away the lone shot on goal he faced, earning his second clean sheet of the season. On the other side, Union keeper Andrew Rick made two saves to secure his third shutout of the year.
