for KING + COUNTRY Celebrates ‘DRUMMER BOY’ Movie Premiere with Star-Studded Nashville Red Carpet

NASHVILLE, TN (November 4, 2026) – Nashville rolled out the red carpet Wednesday evening as Grammy Award-winning Christian music duo for KING + COUNTRY celebrated the premiere of their highly anticipated film, DRUMMER BOY. Presented by Angel Studios, the cinematic production brought together cast members, filmmakers, fans, and special guests for an unforgettable evening at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.

The premiere delivered plenty of Hollywood excitement with a unique historical twist. Guests arriving at the venue were greeted by Revolutionary War-era drummers dressed in military uniforms, bringing the film’s setting to life before audiences even entered the theater. The elaborate presentation reflected the scale and ambition of a project that has been years in the making.

The evening also came with an unexpected change of plans. Originally scheduled to take place at the historic Grand Ole Opry House, the premiere was relocated to Belmont University’s Fisher Center following a water main break. Despite the last-minute venue change, organizers successfully transformed the new location into a fitting setting for the celebration.

For brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, the film represents another major milestone in their creative journey. Known worldwide for their powerful performances, cinematic concert productions, and inspirational music, the duo has expanded its storytelling beyond the stage and into an ambitious historical musical drama.

The inspiration behind DRUMMER BOY dates back to 2012, when for KING + COUNTRY developed their dramatic interpretation of the Christmas classic “Little Drummer Boy” during rehearsals in Franklin, Tennessee. What began as a musical arrangement eventually evolved into a much larger vision, combining the brothers’ signature sound with historical storytelling, elaborate choreography, and large-scale cinematic production.

Set during the American Revolutionary War, the film follows two brothers whose lives take dramatically different paths. Joel Smallbone stars as Jeremiah Clem, who joins the British forces, while his younger brother Benjamin, portrayed by Lucas Leach, marches alongside the Patriots as a drummer. Their divided loyalties unfold against a backdrop of war, family conflict, and the pursuit of freedom.

The story also introduces Emmaline, portrayed by India Brown, an enslaved woman whose struggle for freedom adds another perspective to the historical drama. Together, the characters explore themes of faith, sacrifice, forgiveness, and the bonds of family during one of America’s most defining periods.

The project is also a true Smallbone family collaboration. Joel stars in the film and shares directing responsibilities with his brother Ben Smallbone, while Luke serves as a producer. The music of for KING + COUNTRY provides the foundation for a production that blends historical drama with the duo’s distinctive musical style.

With its sweeping musical arrangements, period costumes, choreographed performances, and dramatic battle sequences, DRUMMER BOY represents one of the group’s most ambitious creative undertakings to date.

Wednesday’s Nashville premiere offered a celebration of that vision, bringing the film’s historical setting into the present while recognizing the years of work that went into its creation.

DRUMMER BOY arrives in theaters nationwide on November 6, 2026, through Angel Studios, introducing audiences to a story that combines music, history, and faith on the big screen.
