GloRilla, Gunna, A Boogie and Many More. Hot 97 Summer Jam 2025: A Night of Legacy, New Voices & Unforgettable Energy

Hot 97’s Summer Jam returned to the Prudential Center in Newark for 2025, bringing a mix of hip-hop royalty, rising stars, and raw energy to a sold-out arena. Now a part of the North to Shore Festival and scaled down from its former stadium-sized scale, this year’s edition delivered highlights despite technical hiccups and scheduling delays that pushed the show past 2 a.m.

The night featured powerful performances from headliners A Boogie, Gunna, and GloRilla, each bringing their unique sound and fanbase to the stage. GloRilla had the crowd chanting her 2024 hit “Yeah Glo!,” while Gunna performed atop a floral high-rise installation. A Boogie closed with a dynamic set framed by LED visuals, a live drummer, and keyboardist.

The evening also included standout moments like Muni Long gracefully performing a short set of fan favorites, and Nigerian stars Ayra Starr and Asake adding global flair to the lineup. However, technical difficulties led to several rushed or cut-off sets, frustrating artists like Cash Cobain and Jim Jones.

Still, Summer Jam found sparks of its former glory. Jim Jones improvised his way into extra time, bringing out Meek Mill for a surprise performance of “Dreams and Nightmares” — a moment that lit up the crowd. Another highlight came from Ja Rule & Friends, who honored late producer Irv Gotti with help from Murder Inc. alumni like Lloyd and Charli Baltimore, while Jadakiss joined for their New York anthem.

Though it no longer defines the hip-hop moment like it once did, Summer Jam 2025 proved it remains a cultural staple — one that honors the past, embraces the future, and always manages to deliver at least one moment to talk about.
