NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2026) — Hany Mukhtar added another milestone to his Nashville SC career Saturday night, scoring twice as the Boys in Gold defeated Toronto FC 2 to 0 at GEODIS Park.
The victory extended Nashville’s regular season home winning streak to nine matches and improved the club to 13 wins in 14 MLS matches at GEODIS Park this season.
Mukhtar opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Cristian Espinoza and Elias Saad combined to set up the Nashville captain, who finished the opportunity to give his team an early 1 to 0 advantage.
Nashville struck again shortly before halftime. Sam Surridge and Saad helped create the chance before Mukhtar found the net in the 43rd minute for his second goal of the night.
The brace gave Mukhtar 100 career MLS goals between the regular season and playoffs. He became the 16th player in league history to reach the milestone and the first German born player to accomplish it. Mukhtar now has 13 MLS goals this season.
While Mukhtar provided the offense, veteran goalkeeper Joe Willis took care of things at the other end.
Making his first start of the 2026 season, Willis recorded three saves and kept Toronto off the scoreboard. The shutout was the 79th of his MLS career between regular season and playoff competition. Willis also earned his 110th career MLS victory and was named Man of the Match.
Nashville improved to 18 wins, three losses and six draws with the victory, reaching 60 points with seven regular season matches remaining. The club became the second fastest team in MLS history to reach 60 points, behind only LAFC’s 2019 team.
The Boys in Gold also remain unbeaten at home in MLS competition this season with 13 wins and one draw. Saturday marked Nashville’s club record 18th regular season victory and its club record 13th home win.
Espinoza recorded his league leading 13th assist of the season on Mukhtar’s opening goal. The assist also gave him 96 during his MLS regular season career, tying Carles Gil for the most among active players.
Saad assisted on both Nashville goals, giving him five MLS assists this season, while Surridge picked up his second assist of the year.
The result continued an impressive stretch for Nashville, which has avoided defeat in 19 of its last 21 MLS matches. Across all competitions this season, Nashville has posted 22 wins, seven losses and nine draws.
Head coach BJ Callaghan also reached a milestone Saturday. His 37 victories through his first 70 MLS matches tied Tata Martino for the most wins by a coach over that span in league history.
Nashville will now have a break in its schedule during the FIFA international window before returning to action on Oct. 10 on the road against Austin FC.
