Houston Dynamo FC opened the 2026 MLS season with an exciting 2–1 victory over Chicago Fire FC at Shell Energy Stadium, fueled by a sensational two-goal debut from Brazilian attacker Guilherme. After Chicago struck first through Hugo Cuypers in the 31st minute, Houston responded in the second half as Jack McGlynn set up Guilherme for a composed equalizer in the 67th minute. Guilherme sealed the win in the 78th, finishing a rebound to become just the third player in club history to score multiple goals in his Dynamo debut. Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond added two key saves, while several new signings — including Designated Players Mateusz Bogusz and Guilherme — made their first appearances as Houston kicked off the season with energy and optimism. The Dynamo now prepare to host LAFC as their opening homestand continues.
