On the heels of her recent Latin Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Hip Hop Song for the track “Autodidacta” from critically acclaimed debut EP, Autodidacta, J Noa continues to make a dent in the industry with her undeniable talent as a rapper and lyricist. The 17-year-old viral sensation, hailing from the Dominican Republic, was chosen to perform in NPR’s world-renowned Tiny Desk for their El Tiny series as part of Hispanic Heritage Month alongside major artists including Becky G, Ivy Queen, DannyLux, Rawayana, and Alex Cuba. J Noa is the youngest artist and the only Dominican among the ‘El Tiny’ cast this year, and it’s also her first performance on a global stage.
J Noa delivered an enthralling 4-song performance alongside a 9-piece band under the musical direction of 2X Grammy nominated artist, musician, and producer Danny Flores from COASTCITY. Her set opened with “No Me Pueden Parar” followed by “Autodidacta,” “Paranoia,” and “Betty,” the standout tracks off her debut EP. Throughout the performance, the teenage lyricist shared the backstory of every song and dropped personal gems about her life, including being from the San Cristobal ghetto in DR and being able to momentarily step out of her hood for her first performance ever on an international stage.
