Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Buttletfly’ Lands at No. 1 On Billboard Chart

Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar, whose new album, To Pimp A Butterfly, sold an impressive 321,000 copies this week, landing the Compton rapper at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

Including album streams, A Butterfly, accounted for a grand total of 363,000 albums sold, making it the second highest selling week of any artist in 2015, trailing only Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, which moved approximately 495,000 units in its debut week.

To Pimp A Butterfly is K. Dot’s first No. 1 album. His critically acclaimed album, good kid m.a.a.d city, sold 241,000 copies and landed at No. 2 on the charts in 2012.

To Pimp A Butterfly received mostly positive reviews, scoring 4.5 out of 5 by Rolling Stone and a 9.3 out of 10 on Pitchfork, respectively.
