New Orleans is such a beautiful city. I travel a lot for work, which doesn’t allow me time to really experience the city and enjoy the amazing things it has to offer. But, thanks to Wifey, who took the time to research and find out some interesting facts about the city, we finally got a chance to take in some of what makes New Orleans so great!
Lets start off with food. We are self proclaimed foodies and have eaten the world over, but it isn’t until now that I have decided to chronicle it. We of course took advantage of the awesome room services that Marriott provides, but in such a rich culinary city we could not stop there!
Amber got turned on to cold brew coffee on a recent trip to NYC, so our hunt began for some cold brew! We found a great little local spot called Addiction Coffee House, which gives a new meaning to farm to cup coffee, as they use only local farm fresh ingredients. The summer weather in New Orleans is hot, and the cold brew coffee was the perfect delicious and refreshing start to our day!
Breakfast is the fuel for your day, and we found a delicious breakfast at Daisy Dukes. Walking in we knew the food would be great as there were locals as well as some of NOPD‘s finest! While there, we got a tip for a great chicken biscuit that we had to try at a spot called Johnny’s PoBoy. The biscuits were scrumptious, and the value was even better! Side note, they only take cash at Johnny’s, but they do have an ATM on property.
And then there are the Tours. The city offers tons of tours to see the city sites, and learn about the history of New Orleans. We liked the Haunted tour, which was a great walking tour that took you by all the historically haunted properties around the city, and was only $20. While on that tour we found about about the unique Pharmacy that sits within the French Quarter. They allow visitors to take a self guided walking tour through the building for $5. We saw some interesting medical history, which was an awesome little trip back in time. But the best tour of all didn’t cost us a dime! It was a walking tour that is given every morning by the National Park Service. The tour was full of fun and interesting historical information.
Music: when its time to kick back and unwind and enjoy some good music, I recommend you check out Steamboat Wilie Sun – Thursday at Café Beignet in the French Quarter. We stayed at the Marriott, and had the convenience of a shot walk downstairs to the M Bistro at the connecting Ritz. The Bistro is open not only to those staying at the hotel but also anyone looking to come in and dine. M Bistro has live music Wed- Saturday. Love travels and its always better to travel to a sound track! So enjoy New Orleans and all of its sights, sounds, and eats! There is so much to do and see in the beautiful Big Easy, I hope my experience helps you to get a start to your exciting exploration!
