New Orleans is such a beautiful city.  I travel a lot for work, which doesn’t allow
me time to really experience the city and enjoy the amazing things it has to offer.
But, thanks to Wifey, who took the time to research and find out some interesting
facts about the city, we finally got a chance to take in some of what makes New
Orleans so great!

Lets start off with food.  We are self proclaimed foodies and have eaten the world
over, but it isn’t until now that I have decided to chronicle it.  We of course
took advantage of the awesome room services that [_Marriott_](http://lovetravelswithme.com/)
provides, but in such a rich culinary city we could not stop there!

Amber got turned on to cold brew coffee on a recent trip to NYC, so our hunt began
for some cold brew!  We found a great little local spot called [_Addiction Coffee House_](http://www.addictioncoffeehouse.com/),
which gives a new meaning to farm to cup coffee, as they use only local farm fresh
ingredients.  The summer weather in New Orleans is hot, and the cold brew coffee
was the perfect delicious and refreshing start to our day!

Breakfast is the fuel for your day, and we found a delicious breakfast at [_Daisy Dukes_](http://www.daisydukesrestaurant.com/).
Walking in we knew the food would be great as there were locals as well as some
of [_NOPD_](http://www.nola.gov/nopd/)‘s finest!  While there, we got a tip for
a great chicken biscuit that we had to try at a spot called [_Johnny’s PoBoy_](http://johnnyspoboys.com/).
The biscuits were scrumptious, and the value was even better!  Side note, they only
take cash at Johnny’s, but they do have an ATM on property.

For lunch my favorite spot is definitely [_Mother’s_](http://www.mothersrestaurant.net/)!
They are known world wide for their ham, but my personal favorite is their Chicken
Po Boy with a side of greens.  Also nice, if your a late riser, Mother’s serves
breakfast all day.  And then there is [_Drago’s_](http://www.dragosrestaurant.com/about/our-oysters/).
Many places in the city sell oysters, but only one knows what their doing, and that’s
[_Drago’s_](http://www.dragosrestaurant.com/about/our-oysters/)!  We have ordered
at many different places around the city, only to be disappointed that they didn’t
measure up to [_Drago’s_](http://www.dragosrestaurant.com/about/our-oysters/)!
So needless to say, whenever we hit the BIG EASY, Drago’s is one of our first stops.
Now for anyone who loves sea food, we were told you have to try [_Deanie’s_](http://www.deanies.com/).
We unfortunately didn’t get a chance to eat there because it was a holiday weekend
and the line was around the block from open to close every day!  I can only imagine
how good the food must be!  So on our next trip to New Orleans, [_Deanie’s_](http://www.deanies.com/)
will be our 1st stop.

For a little fancier dining, I suggest you try [_Galatoires 33_](http://www.galatoires33barandsteak.com/home)
not only for their great filet, but some of the best bacon I have ever had!   Amber
had some of these awesomely cubed bacon bits on her salad.  They were so tasty that
I actually ordered a side of them.  It sounds weird, but believe me when I say they
were that delicious!!!   Finally something sweet. I used to think it was all about
beignets in New Orleans, until I found the [_Buttermilk Drop_](http://www.buttermilkdrop.com).
Nothing like any doughnuts I have ever had, they are just a big ball of goodness
you have to try!

And then there are the _**Tours**_.  The city offers tons of tours to see the city
sites, and learn about the history of New Orleans. We liked the Haunted tour, which
was a great walking tour that took you by all the historically haunted properties
around the city, and was only $20.  While on that tour we found about about the
unique [_Pharmacy_](http://www.pharmacymuseum.org/) that sits within the French
Quarter.  They allow visitors to take a self guided walking tour through the building
for $5.  We saw some interesting medical history, which was an awesome little trip
back in time.  But the best tour of all didn’t cost us a dime!  It was a walking
tour that is given every morning by the [_National Park Service_](http://www.nps.gov/jela/french-quarter-site.htm).
The tour was full of fun and interesting historical information.

_**Music:**_ when its time to kick back and unwind and enjoy some good music, I
recommend you check out [_Steamboat Wilie_](http://www.steamboatwillie.tv/) Sun –
Thursday at Café Beignet in the French Quarter.  We stayed at the Marriott, and
had the convenience of a shot walk downstairs to the [_M Bistro_](http://lovetravelswithme.com/)
at the connecting [_Ritz_](http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/NewOrleans/Default.htm).
The Bistro is open not only to those staying at the hotel but also anyone looking
to come in and dine.  [_M Bistro_](http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/NewOrleans/Dining/MBistro/Default.htm)
has live music Wed- Saturday.  Love travels and its always better to travel to a
sound track!  So enjoy New Orleans and all of its sights, sounds, and eats!  There
is so much to do and see in the beautiful Big Easy, I hope my experience helps you
to get a start to your exciting exploration!
