Mustangs Pull Away in Second Half to Stay Perfect at Home

SMU men’s basketball used a dominant second half to secure a 99–82 win over Central Arkansas on Sunday, remaining unbeaten at home this season.

After a strong start that saw SMU build a 19-point first-half lead, Central Arkansas closed the gap before halftime. The Mustangs responded immediately after the break, opening the second half with a 16–4 run to regain full control and never look back.

Boopie Miller led the way with 23 points, while Jaron Pierre Jr. added 21 points, including four three-pointers. Samet Yigitoglu delivered a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and B.J. Edwards chipped in 17 points. SMU shot an impressive 59% from the field and dominated inside, outscoring the Bears by 30 points in the paint.

Central Arkansas was paced by Ty Robinson’s career-high 28 points, with Camren Hunter and Javion Guy-King also scoring in double figures, but SMU’s depth and efficiency proved too much down the stretch.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 10–2 on the season and continue to protect their home court as they prepare to host Cal State Fullerton next weekend.
