Mystics Dominate Sky Behind Citron’s Career Night and Balanced Attack

The Washington Mystics cruised to a 103-86 victory over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night at CareFirst Arena, evening their record at 13-13. The Sky dropped to 7-19 with the loss.

Outside of a brief stretch in the first quarter, the Mystics controlled the game from start to finish. Washington outpaced Chicago in nearly every statistical category, including shooting efficiency and trips to the free-throw line. The Mystics knocked down 10 of their 24 three-point attempts and converted 21-of-27 from the charity stripe, while limiting the Sky to just 18 free-throw attempts and 31.6% shooting from deep.

Rookie sensation Sonia Citron had a breakout performance, leading all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including a blistering 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Kiki Iriafen contributed a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Brittney Sykes added 18 points and 6 assists to round out the trio’s impressive night.

Angel Reese led Chicago with 22 points and 13 rebounds, though she struggled from the field, going just 6-of-16.

The Mystics look to build on this momentum Thursday night when they host the Golden State Valkyries. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
