Mystics’ Furious Rally Falls Short Against Valkyries

The Washington Mystics came within striking distance of one of the most remarkable comebacks of the season, but their late-game surge wasn’t enough in an 88–83 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night.

After falling behind by as many as 25 points in the first half, the Mystics refused to fold. Locking in defensively and finding their rhythm on offense, Washington chipped away at the deficit quarter by quarter, eventually pulling within a single possession late in the fourth.

The Valkyries, however, held their nerve down the stretch, knocking down key shots and free throws to keep the Mystics at bay. Despite the loss, Washington’s resilience and second-half fight were clear, offering a glimpse of the grit they’ll look to build on heading into their next matchup.
