Nashville SC Crushes Sporting Kansas City 4-0, Ties MLS Home Wins Record as Hany Mukhtar Shines

NASHVILLE, TN — GEODIS Park continues to be a nightmare for visiting teams.

Nashville SC delivered another dominant performance Wednesday night, October 14, cruising past Sporting Kansas City 4-0 while matching two Major League Soccer records and extending one of the most impressive home runs in league history.

The Boys in Gold improved to 20-3-6 with 66 points through 29 matches, the best start through 29 games in MLS history. The victory also marked Nashville’s 14th home win of the season, tying the league record established by the New York Red Bulls in 2018.

Nashville SC Takes Control Early

Nashville wasted little time putting Sporting Kansas City on its heels.

Hany Mukhtar opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a spectacular finish off an assist from Andy Najar. The goal was Mukhtar’s 15th of the season and his fifth in his last four matches.

Just seven minutes later, Sam Surridge doubled the advantage, finishing a play created by Mukhtar and Reed Baker-Whiting. The strike marked Surridge’s team-leading 17th MLS goal of the season.

Nashville wasn’t finished.

In the 29th minute, Najar joined the scoring party, converting a chance set up by Cristian Espinoza, who recorded his league-leading 14th assist of the campaign.

With a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime, Nashville had already put the match firmly out of reach.

Warren Madrigal added the finishing touch deep into second-half stoppage time, converting a penalty kick to seal the 4-0 victory. The goal was his sixth of the season and came in his first appearance since August 5 following a lower-body injury.

GEODIS Park Becomes an MLS Fortress

Nashville’s dominance at home has become one of the defining stories of its historic season.

The Boys in Gold remain the only unbeaten home team in MLS this year, posting a remarkable 14-0-1 record at GEODIS Park while outscoring opponents 45-12.

Wednesday’s victory also extended Nashville’s home winning streak to 10 matches, tying another MLS single-season record.

The shutout was equally significant for goalkeeper Brian Schwake, who recorded his 13th clean sheet of the season, matching Joe Willis’ club record.

Mukhtar, Surridge Continue Historic Seasons

Mukhtar’s latest performance added another milestone to his already impressive Nashville career.

With his 15th goal of the season, the former MLS MVP became just the second player in league history to score at least 15 goals in five of his first seven MLS seasons, joining Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Mukhtar also registered his eighth assist of the campaign, continuing to make his case for another Landon Donovan MLS MVP award.

Surridge, meanwhile, increased his team-leading total to 17 goals as Nashville’s attacking duo continued to create problems for opposing defenses.

The victory also marked the club’s 24th win across all competitions this season, another franchise record.

Nashville SC Keeps Making History

The historic numbers continue to pile up for head coach B.J. Callaghan and his squad.

Nashville has now won four consecutive matches and remains unbeaten in 21 of its last 23 league games.

The team has also established new club scoring records with 63 goals in MLS competition, including the playoffs, and 77 goals across all competitions.

Callaghan added another personal milestone, setting an MLS record with 39 victories through his first 72 league matches as a head coach.

Midfielder Alex Muyl also reached 200 regular-season appearances for Nashville SC, joining Mukhtar among the club’s players to achieve the milestone.

What’s Next for Nashville SC?

The Boys in Gold will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel west to face the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, October 17, at PayPal Park.

Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT.

With the postseason approaching, Nashville is doing more than collecting victories. The club is rewriting its record books, turning GEODIS Park into one of the league’s toughest venues and making a compelling case as an MLS Cup contender.

And if Wednesday night’s performance was any indication, the Boys in Gold have no intention of slowing down.
