NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville SC’s Leagues Cup run ended Wednesday night with a 2-1 loss to CF Monterrey at GEODIS Park.
The defeat left the Boys in Gold outside the top four in the Phase One standings and eliminated them from quarterfinal contention.
Nashville opened the scoring just 21 seconds into the match when Ahmed Qasem found the net. The goal was the fastest in club history, surpassing Dominique Badji’s previous record by 35 seconds, and was the second-fastest goal in Leagues Cup history.
Monterrey responded and eventually took control, ending Nashville’s tournament run despite the early breakthrough.
Nashville will now turn its attention back to MLS play. The club enters the weekend at 12-2-4 with 40 points and faces a demanding stretch of three matches in eight days.
The Boys in Gold return to GEODIS Park on Saturday, Aug. 15, to host second-place Inter Miami CF at 7:30 p.m. CT.
