NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville SC entered the MLS World Cup break atop the league standings after a 2-1 victory over New York City FC at GEODIS Park.
Jeisson Palacios opened the scoring with a header off a Cristian Espinoza corner kick to give Nashville the lead.
Maxwell Woledzi added the eventual game-winner in the second half, scoring the first MLS goal of his career.
The victory extended Nashville’s unbeaten streak to eight matches and kept the Boys in Gold undefeated at home this season.
Sam Surridge also returned to action for the first time since April after recovering from injury.
Nashville heads into the World Cup break in first place in MLS.
