Nashville’s newest professional basketball franchise has officially found its identity.
UPSHOT Nashville unveiled the Nashville Vibe and its official logo Tuesday at Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gymnasium, marking a major milestone as the franchise prepares for its inaugural season in 2027.
The sixth team in the UPSHOT League, the Vibe was created to reflect the energy, culture, and musical heartbeat of Music City. The team’s blue and yellow color palette pays tribute to the Nashville and Davidson County flag, while a musical note woven into the logo celebrates the city’s rich musical heritage.
From country and bluegrass to rock, jazz, blues, and hip-hop, the Vibe’s identity is designed to bring Nashville’s diverse culture to the basketball court.
“The Nashville Vibe captures everything that makes this city special our music, our energy, and the spirit that brings people together,” said Nancy VanReece, President and CEO of the Vibe.
The team will play its home games at historic Vanderbilt Memorial Gymnasium beginning in 2027, with additional announcements on the inaugural head coach, player signings, jerseys, and mascot expected in the coming months.
“Nashville moves to its own rhythm, and now our team does too,” said Managing Partner Mark Walsh. “The Vibe represents world-class women’s professional basketball with the same energy, creativity, and heart that define this city.”
The Vibe’s arrival adds another chapter to Nashville’s growing sports landscape following the city’s unsuccessful bid for a WNBA expansion franchise. UPSHOT provides a domestic five-on-five professional women’s basketball platform, offering players an opportunity to compete in the United States.
Nashville will join the Baltimore Starlings as an expansion franchise in 2027, alongside UPSHOT’s original teams: the Jacksonville Waves, Savannah Steel, Charlotte Crown, and Greensboro Groove.
With merchandise, season memberships, and group outing packages now available at NashvilleVibe.com, the countdown to the Vibe’s first season is officially underway.
Nashville has its sound. Now, it has a basketball team to match.
