No. 5 Lady Tigers Stay Perfect, Tops Louisiana Tech in New Orleans

No. 5 LSU continued its unbeaten start to the season with an 87–61 win over Louisiana Tech in the Compete 4 Cause Classic at the Smoothie King Center, marking another milestone night for head coach Kim Mulkey against her alma mater.

The victory pushed LSU to 11–0 on the season, while Louisiana Tech fell to 5–4. After a competitive opening quarter, the Tigers took control with strong defense and balanced scoring, steadily building their lead through the second and third quarters.

Senior Flau’jae Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Mikaylah Williams led all scorers with 19 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. The duo provided steady leadership during key stretches and combined for 12 made field goals.

Sophomore Kate Koval added 13 points and a season-high four blocks, and junior MiLaysia Fulwiley chipped in 10 points. Jada Richard contributed a career-high eight assists as LSU’s ball movement helped keep Louisiana Tech at bay.

LSU used a late third-quarter surge to extend its advantage and pulled away in the fourth, leading by as many as 33 points before closing out the win.

The Tigers now return to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Dec. 16, where they will host Morgan State in their annual field trip game, their first home appearance since Nov. 20.
