Pierre forced overtime with a clutch jumper in the final 25 seconds, then opened the extra period with two free throws and a dagger three to break a 79–79 tie. From there, the Mustangs took control, outscoring the Aggies 16–3 in the final five minutes. Pierre finished 13-of-21 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 at the line, coming just one point short of his career high.

Boopie Miller added 19 points on a flawless 10-for-10 at the stripe, along with six rebounds and four assists. Corey Washington scored 14, Samet Yigitoglu posted 12 points and eight boards, and B.J. Edwards came close to a triple-double with nine points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists.

Texas A&M was led by Marcus Hill’s 25 points and seven rebounds before he fouled out. Rashawn Agee added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Mackenzie Mgbako also had 13.

SMU controlled most of the afternoon, taking a 41–27 halftime lead and stretching it to 49–34 early in the second half. The Aggies battled back with a late 7–0 run to go ahead 77–73, but the Mustangs answered—Edwards at the line and Pierre in the clutch—to force overtime and close out their ninth win of the season.
