Prince Owusu Shines with First-Half Brace as CF Montreal Upsets Houston Dynamo 3-1

CF Montreal stunned the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night with a 3-1 road victory—just their second win in 18 matches this season. Prince Owusu was the hero of the night, netting two goals in quick succession during the first half to snap Montreal’s five-game winless streak.

Owusu opened the scoring in the 30th minute, calmly slotting home after a smooth setup from Caden Clark and Tom Pearce. Just two minutes later, he struck again with a precise header off a cross from Aleksandr Guboglo, marking his sixth goal of the year.

Jalen Neal added a third for Montreal in the 54th minute with a clean header off a Tom Pearce free kick—his first goal in two seasons. Despite outshooting Montreal 21-8, Houston struggled to generate quality chances, managing just two shots on target.

The Dynamo’s lone goal came in the 64th minute when Ondrej Lingr buried a header following a scramble in the box. However, missed opportunities—including a Franco Escobar shot off the post—kept Houston from mounting a comeback.

Montreal’s efficient attack and strong defense sealed the upset, leaving Houston frustrated on home turf.
