The contest for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District is taking shape with major developments on both sides of the aisle. Democratic state Rep. Vincent Dixie of Nashville has entered the race to replace retiring Republican Rep. Mark Green, while Republican state Rep. Jay Reedy has withdrawn after initially filing to run. Dixie, the first Black lawmaker to chair the House Democratic Caucus, criticized Green for supporting former President Trump’s controversial spending bill, calling it harmful to working families. Meanwhile, a crowded Republican field remains, including former state officials, current legislators, and even Stewart Parks — a Trump-pardoned Jan. 6 rioter. With primary elections set for October 7 and the general election on December 2, the race is quickly becoming one of Tennessee’s most watched political battles.
