Re:SET Atlanta

Re:SET Music Festival took place over three days in Central Park Atlanta, Georgia, and featured an eclectic lineup of artists. Here’s a recap of each day’s performances:

Day 1: Fousheé’s sensual performance provided a distinct taste, while Toro Y Moi brought a fresh atmosphere to the stage. The audience was united in their admiration for his vivacious and unfettered character. Highlights were the ambient and relaxing impact of “So Many Details,” as well as the strong audience participation during songs like “Laws of the Universe” and “Ordinary Pleasure.” James Blake’s performance brought a light display to the mix, enthralling the audience with his voice and versions of Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed” and Bill Withers’ “Hope She’ll Be Happier.” The night concluded with Steve Lacy’s widely anticipated show, which produced a sensuous and aesthetically spectacular performance. Songs like “N Side” and “Bad Habit” added to the alluring mood, and the audience relished every moment of it. To the surprise of the audience, Lacy gave a shoutout to Tyler, The Creator who was in the crowd watching the performance, Lacy dedicated the song “Cocky Girl” to him.

Day 2: Sunday started with a higher energy level. IDLES’ post-hardcore performance was very much welcomed into Atlanta with moshing and incredible energy even at an earlier time slot in the day. Jamie xx gave a different turn of energy moving towards a more electronic/disco mood setting the tone for the night to come with LCD Soundsystem setting the stage for a dance party. LCD Soundsystem brought the disco vibes, energizing the crowd with hits like “Movement” and “All My Friends.” James Murphy’s banter, chaotic lighting, and incredible stage presence added to the fun and left the audience feeling connected.

Day 3: This day showcased the younger generation’s voices of angst and poetic pubescence. Dijon’s post-modern rap set offered a change of pace, followed by Clairo, who captivated the crowd with her earnestness and hits like “Amobea” and “Bags.” The show was put on pause as a storm came through the area forcing the audience to evacuate unknowing if the performances would continue. Thankfully after pushing the set later, Boygenius made up of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus, delivered a strong and harmonic performance. They began with a land acknowledgement giving a nod to the original people of the land. They wowed the crowd with songs like “$20” and “Satanist” while dressed in school uniforms. The boys played past the hard 10:00pm curfew with “Please Stay”, “Favor”, and “Graceland Too” with “Dumbest Girl Alive” by 100gecs playing during the curtain call.
