Nashville SC continued its remarkable run of form Wednesday night, defeating CF Montréal 1-0 at GEODIS Park to extend its unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer to 10 matches while setting a new club record with its fifth consecutive league victory.
The Boys in Gold improved to 8-0-2 over their last 10 MLS contests and remain one of the league’s hottest teams, strengthening their position near the top of the Supporters’ Shield race.
The night’s lone goal came from the reliable right foot of Sam Surridge, who calmly converted a penalty kick to score his team-leading 10th MLS goal of the season. The finish also continued the English striker’s success against Montréal, marking his fifth goal in five career appearances against the Canadian club. Surridge now ranks among the league’s top scorers and continues to be the driving force behind Nashville’s attack.
While Surridge provided the offense, goalkeeper Brian Schwake once again anchored Nashville’s defense with another composed performance between the posts. The first-year starter recorded his second consecutive clean sheet and became the first goalkeeper in club history to register eight shutouts through Nashville SC’s first 16 MLS matches of a season.
Schwake’s consistency has been a major factor in Nashville’s success. The All-Star goalkeeper now leads Major League Soccer in victories with 12 while ranking among the league leaders in clean sheets.
GEODIS Park has also become one of the toughest venues for visiting clubs. Nashville remains the only unbeaten home team in MLS this season, improving to 8-0-1 in league play while outscoring opponents 26-9 on its home turf.
With confidence continuing to build and momentum firmly on its side, Nashville SC now heads on the road for its next challenge. The Boys in Gold will travel to face Orlando City SC on Saturday, July 25, at Inter&Co Stadium as they reach the halfway point of their MLS regular season schedule.
