Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is back on the big screen again with yet another action-packed blockbuster thriller. If you’re looking for something to visually stimulate you, then this a movie you’ll want to see in 3D.

San Andreas is a story about Ray (Dwayne Johnson), a divorced search-and-rescue helicopter pilot who is determined to rescue his daughter from the catastrophic magnitude 9 earthquake caused by the movement of the San Andreas fault in California. The entire movie is pretty much based on all the obstacles encountered in-between him rescuing his daughter (Alexandra Daddario).

There were scenes in the movie where I felt it was extremely exaggerated and too far-fetched. But then again, what isn’t now-a-days.

The movie has a good storyline. It had drama, lots of action, and a romantic reconcile between ex-husband and ex-wife, and a new found love between strangers Blake (Alexandra Daddario) and Joby (Colton Haynes).

I also thought it was very clever how the writers linked what Ray is going through to the castostrophic movement of the faults. I can appreciate any good movie when it has symbolism.

Let me explain. In the movie, Ray lost one of his two daughters to a tragic drowning accident, and lost his wife to a divorce because of it. Much like the San Andreas fault, which according to movie hadn’t erupted in hundreds of years, he had kept his feelings to himself for years about his daughters death, which in effect caused his estranged wife (Carla Gugino) to ask for a divorce and lose his family.

When the San Andreas faults finally move and the massive earthquake erupts, Ray too erupts when he finds out his family is now moving in with a new man, which to him means he lost it all. His whole world is gone. And much like the faults, this causes Ray internal pain and destruction. In the end, through all the rough patches, Ray gets his world back and a chance to rebuild, just like California will have to after the earthquake.

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, the movies sound like a good idea. The movie is worth seeing because it has a good storyline, great visual graphics and The Rock. I mean, really. Who doesn’t love that body? I mean smile. Need I say more ladies?

San Andreas opens in Theaters Today Friday May 29.
