The SMU women’s basketball team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season, defeating Arkansas 78–63 inside Moody Coliseum during the ACC/SEC Challenge. The win marks the Mustangs’ third straight victory, powered by standout efforts from Sahnya Jah and Tyi Skinner.
SMU took control in the second quarter with a dominant 25–16 run, and despite a high-scoring third period from both teams, the Mustangs closed strong with an 18–11 fourth quarter to put the game away.
The defense set the tone early, holding Arkansas to just 28.9% shooting overall and a frigid 17.4% in the first quarter. SMU fired efficiently all night at 47.8% from the field, piling up 50 points in the paint, 38 bench points, and forcing turnovers that led to 20 points.
Sahnya Jah celebrated her birthday with a career-night—22 points, seven rebounds, and a +29 plus/minus, marking her second career 20-point game.
Tyi Skinner guided the offense with a brilliant 17-point, 10-assist double-double, becoming only the fourth player in SMU history to achieve a points-assists double-double.
Paulina Paris added 13 points, seven of them in crucial moments of the fourth quarter.
Kyla Deck contributed six points and four steals, her fifth game this season with 4+ steals, while Miriam Ibezim anchored the interior with 10 rebounds and six points.
SMU answered every Arkansas run—from a 9–0 Razorback push in the second quarter to a 12–2 surge in the third—never giving up the lead and keeping the game out of reach down the stretch.
Up next, the Mustangs open ACC play at home this Sunday, December 7, hosting Syracuse before closing the homestand against Coppin State on December 10.
