NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sam Surridge headed in a corner kick from Cristian Espinoza in
second-half stoppage time as Nashville SC rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat
New York 3-2 on Sunday, completing an unbeaten regular-season home schedule.

The Supporters’ Shield winners finished with 15 wins and two draws at Geodis Park.
Two New York own goals helped Nashville erase the deficit before Surridge delivered
the winner shortly after eight minutes of added time were announced.

New York’s pressure and quick attacks created problems for Nashville early. Cade
Cowell and Julian Hall repeatedly tested goalkeeper Brian Schwake and defenders
Maxwell Woledzi and Jeisson Palacios.

Schwake kept the match scoreless in the 19th minute, diving to his right to stop
Cowell’s penalty kick after Cowell drew a foul inside the box.

The visitors eventually broke through with two goals in seven minutes late in the
first half. Hall scored on a breakaway, and Cowell later supplied a pass across
goal that produced New York’s second score.

Nashville cut the deficit before halftime when Andy Najar drove a ball across the
goalmouth from the right side and defender Tim Parker redirected it into his own
net.

The hosts sustained pressure after the break but repeatedly came away without a
goal. Hany Mukhtar had a low finish disallowed for offside and later headed over
the crossbar from close range. Surridge also had a goal ruled out for offside.

Reed Baker-Whiting struck the crossbar with a curling right-footed shot, while Woledzi
hit the post from close range shortly before the 70th minute. Espinoza also struck
the post as Nashville searched for an equalizer.

The tying goal came when another Espinoza delivery across the box deflected off
a New York defender and past goalkeeper Ethan Horvath. An initial offside ruling
was overturned following a video review, allowing the goal to stand.

Surridge then completed the comeback, meeting Espinoza’s corner with a header in
stoppage time. The finish secured Nashville’s final home victory of the regular
season and preserved its unbeaten record at Geodis Park.

Schwake’s first-half penalty stop added to a season that included saves from the
spot in a 2-1 victory at Charlotte in April and a 4-1 win over Inter Miami in August,
when he denied Lionel Messi.

Nashville closes the regular season Saturday at Cincinnati on Decision Day.
