Taylor Swift is a megastar in many ways, and everyone knows her name, and if they don’t, they need to. Swift has recently broken the sports world, simply by appearing at the Kansas Chiefs games. After rumors of her and Travis Kelce’s (Kansas City Chiefs tight end) rumored relationship, the NFL player has since gained over 1M Instagram followers. Since her recent couple of appearances, the NFL’s official e-commerce partner reported that Kelce’s jersey sales increased almost 400%. If you follow the ESPN social media there has been no missing her attendance. The NFL’s female viewership has also increased drastically as female Swift fans are now rooting for Travis Kelce’s every move. StubHub has said it saw almost three times increase in KC Chiefs ticket sales. It is safe to say that she has had an incredible impact on not only Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs, but the NFL itself.

Taylor Swift is also reshaping the movie theater world, and because of that Hollywood. “The Eras Tour” concert movie is set to premiere October 13th in more than 100 countries, in a lot of theaters like Cinemark and AMC. Swift decided to skip the movie studios and produce her Eras concert film herself, straight to the theaters through AMC distribution. The theaters are expected to keep less than half of ticket sales, and AMC and Swift are to split the rest. According to AMC, over $100 million in advance tickets have been sold, already making it one of 2023’s highest-grossing movies. This may be a new change we start to see frequently, people ditching the big movie studios and making deals with the theaters themselves.

This may be the biggest surprise of all, but people deem Taylor Swift so impactful, that Arizona State University, will be implementing a T-Swift psychology course. Other universities such as Stanford, New York University, Ghent University in Belgium, and University of Texas will also be offering a course relating to Swift. ASU’s new course is called “Psychology of Taylor Swift — Advanced Topics of Social Psychology,” taught by PhD student Alexandra Wormley. The plan is to use Taylor Swift and her albums as a construct to explain the social psych concepts, such as gossip, relationships and revenge. They believe that if students care and can relate to their course, it increases retention and overall comprehension. Swift again making history, and this time in the academic world.

Taylor Swift is only 33 years old, and she has had such an incredible impact not only with her music but also on our society. She has made history countless times, and will only continue to do so, especially with the epic fan base she has. Swift has established herself as a prominent figure in the 21st century and possibly one of the most influential.
