Last night President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump faced each other in their first debate of the 2024 White House race in Atlanta on Thursday night.
The 90-minute debate, hosted by CNN, took place as Trump was dealing with two criminal prosecutions related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat to Biden.
Despite this, Biden’s campaign was under pressure to address the president’s hoarse, quiet voice, explaining to reporters that it was due to a “cold.”
There was no studio audience for the debate, and each candidate’s microphone was muted while their opponent spoke.
The moderators were CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
