The City of Houston Proclaims October 8th as Cindy Burbano Day

The City of Houston proudly proclaims October 8th, 2024, as Cindy Burbano Day, honoring her remarkable contributions to the Hispanic community and her dedication to broadcasting and public service. This special day celebrates Cindy’s enduring legacy and her unwavering commitment to uplifting the Hispanic community and promoting its vibrant culture.

On this occasion, we come together to recognize Cindy Burbano’s impact and the invaluable contributions of the Hispanic community to our city. We invite everyone to join in the day’s festivities, reflecting on the profound influence of Hispanic culture in shaping Houston’s rich diversity.

“I am proud to sponsor this proclamation for Cindy Burbano. Her relentless advocacy for the Latino community is truly inspiring, and her dedication uplifts us all. Celebrating her contributions during Hispanic Heritage Month is especially fitting,” said Council Member Mario Castillo, Houston City Council District H.

With over two decades of experience, Cindy Burbano has left a lasting mark on Hispanic media. As a morning news anchor for Telemundo Houston and co-host of “Mega en tus Mañanas” on Mega 101, Houston’s leading Spanish radio station, she has earned multiple Marconi Awards and has become a prominent voice in local and national media.

Beyond her professional success, Cindy is deeply committed to philanthropy. She has hosted World AIDS Day in Houston and actively volunteers with organizations such as Rebuilding Together Houston, the Texas Children’s Network, the Houston Food Bank, and the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation. Her efforts have helped raise millions for community causes, solidifying her role as a passionate advocate for both the Hispanic and LGBTQ+ communities.

In response to the honor, Cindy said: “I am deeply humbled by this recognition from the City of Houston. Serving the community that has supported me throughout my career has always been my mission. I hope this day encourages others to continue lifting each other up and celebrating the beauty of our Hispanic heritage.”

As Hispanic Heritage Month continues, Cindy’s dedication to amplifying the voices of the Hispanic community through her media work and public service remains an inspiration to all.
