The day after Christmas, I left cold Georgia to go to the sunshine state with my boyfriend and his parents. I’ve never been to the beach during the holidays.. or anywhere other than home actually. It turned out to be one of the best trips I’ve ever had. Anna Maria Island is a dream beach spot. Therefore, I figured I’d share some of my favorite things to do there!
Bean Point- the very end of the island, where the bay and the ocean meet. We had a pizza date for the sunset and it was my favorite part of the trip. The margarita pizza from the feast restaurant is to die for! I recommend riding a bike to bean point because it’s difficult to find parking.
Biking around the island- rent a bike if you don’t have one!! Beach bums bicycle rental is super affordable & they deliver it straight to your place. Every morning we adventured, finding new spots around the island.
Saint Armand’s Circle– it’s a little bit of a drive but they have lots of shopping & restaurants. We got there early to watch the sunset on the beach and then we got drinks at Daiquiri Deck and ate at the Columbia Restaurant. Their homemade sangria is so so good.
Visit Anna Maria’s City Jail- no worries it’s not the real jail. It’s an old building that was once a jail. It is now an incredible photo opportunity & history lesson. Then sit on the beach obvious one! The beach is so beautiful that I could’ve sat there all day with my book and a Michelob Ultra (duh) I read The Hate You Give while I was there. Great read! Finally the Freckled Fin & The Ugly Grouper are great little bars if you’re looking to go out. The ugly grouper is only outside so bring a jacket, it gets chilly at nighttime.
